I can’t be the only person who has done this but I am guilty of looking at the pictures to make my decision. I mean only looking at the pictures and not the map. We are on our honeymoon and I want a beautiful room. That’s how I justify it….and how I ended up spending a ton of money.
James and I knew we wouldn’t want to spend too much time in Bangkok. To me, when I think Thailand, I think beaches. However, I said in my last post, we didnt book in advance-other than flights. That left us sitting in a hotel room in Bangkok trying to figure out where to stay next. There are so many options and lots are beautiful. We decided on this one that had a private balcony overlooking the water with a bathtub on the balcony. It looked heavenly. I couldn’t wait.
The day after booking was when we were set to fly out to Phuket. Laying in bed in the morning, looking up the hotel I finally pull up a map and my stomach drops….its on an island off of Phuket. I start researching how to get there and see there is a ferry. I think great I can do that….but our flight lands AFTER the last ferry and all the speed boat transfers. We can’t get to said island. I begin to feel that gnawing pit in my stomach…you know the one- the I royally messed up and wont get to paradise feeling.
After many urgent emails I found a private Scuba company to pick us up at the airport and bring us to the island. We get to the airport and there is a legitimate limo bus to take James and I to the boat. The driver was obsessed with Bruno Mars and we had a great time. When we arrived at the dock there was an old wooden boat ready to sweep us off to paradise. It was an amazing adventure but a costly one!
